Kanna, Sceletium Tortuosum in latin, is a succulent plant commonly found in South Africa, where it is also known as Channa and Kougoed – literally meaning ‘something to chew’. It has been used as a medicinal herb since prehistoric times.
Our Kanna extract is an 1:50 etanol extract, meaning 50 g of fermented Kanna has been processed in making 1 g of extract. It comes as a sticky powder that melts when touched or left out in the open. The scent is both sweet and salty, in a way reminiscent of caramel. For incense making purposes, Kanna goes particularly well with our Hemp, our Blue Lotus, and our Wild dagga.
